Choosing SP Jain London School of Management was one of the most pivotal decisions in my professional journey. After a rewarding yet paused career in investment banking and business consulting, I was looking for a platform that could re-energise my aspirations, offer real industry exposure, and help me pivot into a new domain. SPJ London delivered on all fronts — and more.
During my time at SPJ London, I secured an internship at Genpact UK within their Risk Consulting division. Over four months, I worked on cutting-edge projects at the intersection of emerging technologies and regulatory compliance, including designing a GenAI risk framework for banking clients, contributing to Basel 3.1 capital adequacy assessments, and developing a model validation toolkit for AI systems. The experience was immersive, intellectually rigorous, and deeply aligned with the academic knowledge I was building in class. It also led to a full-time offer from Genpact, marking a successful career transition for me into the world of risk and advisory consulting.
SPJ London played an instrumental role throughout this journey. From early career coaching sessions and mock interviews to CV reviews, networking opportunities, and guidance from academic mentors — the support was holistic and tailored. The university’s dedicated Career Services team not only connected me with the Genpact opportunity but also ensured continuous guidance during the entire process — right from preparing for the business case interview to transitioning my student visa to a Skilled Worker visa after securing the full-time role. Regular sync-ups with my academic mentor during the internship kept me grounded in the learning process, while the requirement to submit bi-weekly progress reports added structure and accountability to my experience.
What initially drew me to SPJ London was its location in one of the world’s most dynamic financial hubs, coupled with a programme that promised practical exposure, personalised mentorship, and global relevance. Compared to other postgraduate options, the school stood out for its emphasis on applied learning, industry engagement, and real-time career outcomes. The fact that industry projects, capstone simulations, and internships are integrated into the curriculum was a major differentiator for me.
Personally, the programme helped me rebuild confidence, reconnect with my professional identity, and sharpen my skill set for a new career path. I developed not only technical knowledge in risk and finance but also consulting skills — from stakeholder management and presentation design to structured problem-solving. I also learned how to navigate ambiguity, work across time zones, and manage high-stakes conversations in client-facing settings.
For anyone with a similar background — whether you’re returning from a career break, looking to switch domains, or simply trying to upskill in a global setting — I’d strongly recommend SPJ London. The environment is supportive, the faculty are deeply invested in your success, and the opportunities are real and tangible. But more importantly, it’s a place where ambition meets action — where your goals are not just encouraged, but actively nurtured.
Today, as I continue my journey with Genpact in London as a Lead Associate Consultant, I often reflect on how this transformation began in the classrooms, mentoring sessions, and career workshops at SP Jain. It’s more than just a business school — it’s a launchpad for professional reinvention.
