My name is Deepankar Nayyar, and I’m part of the GMBA cohort at SP Jain London School of Management. I recently completed a four-month internship with Genpact UK, working within their Risk Consulting vertical — and it’s been one of the most meaningful and transformative steps in my professional journey to date.
To give you a bit of context, I’m a qualified ACCA member with seven years’ experience in financial reporting and statutory audit, working across both public and private sector clients. During that time, I had the chance to explore multiple industries — including consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and financial markets — and to work closely with directors, partners, and incredibly talented teams. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how businesses operate at different levels, but I reached a point where I wanted more. I wanted to challenge myself, expand my horizons, and position myself for the next phase of my career.
That’s what led me to the GMBA programme at SPJ London. From the very beginning, the experience was intense — but in the best possible way. The programme was rigorous, hands-on, and deeply enriching. It pushed me to grow beyond my comfort zone and helped me develop the mindset and tools needed to lead in today’s fast-changing business world.
What stood out most for me was the level of support we received. The faculty were not only knowledgeable but genuinely invested in our success. The Professional Readiness Program (PRP) was especially valuable — with mock interviews, technical quizzes, and industry-focused seminars that sharpened our professional toolkit and prepared us for the job market. Alongside this, we had access to both a dedicated career coach and a corporate relations manager who offered tailored guidance based on our individual backgrounds and aspirations.
Another major strength of the programme was the network it opened up. Through SP Jain’s industry connections and carefully curated events, we had the chance to meet alumni and professionals working in leadership roles across a variety of sectors. It was through one of these connections that the internship opportunity with Genpact emerged. The process was well supported throughout — the school maintained close coordination with the company, and we were kept informed every step of the way.
Once the internship began, that support didn’t stop. I was assigned an academic mentor at SPJ London who checked in with me weekly. These conversations weren’t just about my tasks — they helped me reflect on what I was learning, how I was growing, and how to make the most of the experience. That guidance made a real difference.
My role at Genpact was as a Business Analyst within their Risk Consulting division, supporting clients in banking and capital markets. The work was dynamic and high-impact — I was involved in regulatory compliance projects, financial process optimisation, internal operational efficiency, and data analytics engagements. It was fast-paced and challenging, but I genuinely enjoyed it. More importantly, it confirmed that consulting is the career path I want to pursue long term.
In short, my experience with SP Jain London School of Management has been nothing short of exceptional. The GMBA programme helped me bridge my past professional experience with the direction I want to move in. It gave me the confidence, clarity, and capability to step into a new industry, and the internship with Genpact has only reinforced that ambition. I’m grateful for the encouragement, mentorship, and opportunities I’ve had — and I’m genuinely excited for what comes next!
