Bio

Professor of Technology Management at University of Westminster in London, and a Visiting Professor at Copenhagen Business School and Royal Holloway, University of London.

Industry experience includes consultancy for a wide range of firms in many industries as well as management roles in the car industry.

A chartered engineer, Alan is past Chair of the IEEE Technology Management Chapter (UKRI), a Senior Member of the IEEE, and a Member of the IET, and European Operations Management Association.

Alan has been a faculty professor at the University of London and Copenhagen Business School. He has taught at many leading institutions around the world including S P Jain Global School of Management in Singapore and Dubai, Hult International Business School in London and Dubai, Hong Kong University, National University of Singapore and University of California, Davis. He is also the author of an important textbook on Operations Management for McGraw Hill.

Alan’s academic research covers lean management, the application of bibliometric techniques, and new product development; and he has dozens of highly cited academic publications in journals such as Journal of Operations Management, California Management Review, and Long Range Planning, as well as highly cited technical papers in Technovation, and International Journal of Operations and Production Management.
